Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Demo: Playing as a Turdy Character on a Quest to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have discovered plenty of engaging creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a hero that is literally a turd trying to navigate to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: press a single jump button. In numerous challenges, you'll face boss fights and visit a shop to acquire skins for your fecal avatar.

Time your movements carefully, since one error requires restarting the level. Bounce using air pockets to launch your character higher, cross crumbling ledges, and activate triggers to unlock secret routes. Collect coins and use them on tougher levels in which gameplay intensifies.

Visually, the experience boasts eye-catching environments and an amazing music score. The retro visual style of morphing basic polygons may remind gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to name other games where you control a dung character, video games have long included fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from protagonist waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, such content shows up extensively in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, such as taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to debut on computers on November 19.
